Occultation Makes a List of Great Queer Horror

Very surprised and very much honored. A highlight of my year:
OutWrite names The Ten Best Queer Horror Books Ever
Occultation made the list mainly on the strength of Mysterium Tremendum, but I’m also proud of “The Lagerstatte” and “Strappado.”

Mysterium Tremendum is one of my all time favorites, it deserves a world of acclaim!
It’s getting reprinted in a major anthology soon!!
Strappado bothers me intensely. Kenshi is extremely sympathetic and the story achieves true sadness and tragedy, not mere “horror” per se. A tour de force.
Strappado disturbs me too. I was very ill and jacked up on cold meds and booze when I wrote it and Occultation under deadline…
It upset me even more after I did a little research to find out precisely what the practice of strappado entailed.
