A Few Notes
8June 2, 2014 by Laird
Thank you to David, Grady, and the community at Reddit/Horrorlit for hosting my AMA on Friday. A lot of great questions. Some further notes:
Yes, I’ve an idea for a limited run of Superman. It’s not pretty.
The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All and other stories will be reprinted as paperback this fall. It will be corrected to “stories.”
The paperback reprint of Occultation is on the way. Next month or so is my guess.
I am done with the first Alaska collection except for an original novella. The working title was Ardor, but that has changed. Between writing the original story and waiting for exclusivity clauses on a couple of the other pieces to expire, I won’t be putting this together for submission until late winter or early spring.
Eight or nine new stories are scheduled to appear throughout 2014-2015. I’m also working on several other tales, a screenplay, three forewords/essays, and a novel.
Kathe Koja is helming Best Weird Fiction of the Year, Volume 2. I’m taking a break from editing and serving as an awards juror (great experiences, both). I am devoted to somehow accomplishing the projects listed above.
Fearful Symmetries is out. I’ve a novelette in there: “the worms crawl in,” But, look at that cover. it’s full of stars…

Thanks Laird for doing the AMA! It was both fun and informative.
My pleasure.
A few more addenda- thank YOU for being accessible to us reader-folk. A pleasure to be heard and you- along with Joe hill- at least in my personal experience- have always been gracious-
The Worms crawl in- hey everyone- I read it- if you enjoy typical LB fare (creepy, thought-provoking and stronger than a double-shot of johnnie black) herein lies more of the same!
BTW- penny dreadful is the bomb! everyone be so advised!
Thanks, Tom. I enjoyed the chat.
Laird, I loved your AMA. Thank you for always being so thoughtful and generous with your readers/fans. You do us a great kindness by writing some of the best (and scariest!!) stuff out there. Slainte!
Thanks, LTC.
I enjoyed the AMA, Laird, and am excited about the coming projects.
A Barron-written Superman might actually get me to read the comic. Is this a “go,” or on spec?
Nah, the Superman project is just something I’d like to do one day.
