Read This: Bloody Mary

October 16, 2013 by Laird

John Joseph Adams’s Nightmare Magazine showcases a lot of fine work in the horror genre. Two originals and two reprints are scheduled each month, alongside an editorial and a guest essay. He’s featured Kaaron Warren, Genevieve Valentine, Clive Barker, Dale Bailey, Sarah Langan, John Langan, and Connie Willis, among a growing host of other top notch authors. Head over there and read (or listen to) Norman Partridge’s Bloody Mary. Norm should be on every horror enthusiast’s reading list, but in my mind he’s become synonymous with October.

Reblogged this on My Isylumn and commented:
A little wobbly at first – boy, cat, woman – but this nightmare finds its focus. And its creepy fun.

Norm has done a lot of great work over the years. I highly recommend The Man With The Barbed Wire Fists and Lesser Demons.

  2. Thanks for the good word, gents. When it comes to the short stuff, my personal favorites are LESSER DEMONS and MWTBWF, so Laird picks well.

Yeah, I’ve got a copy of Dark Harvest that I picked up down here in Australia a few years back. We don’t do Halloween like the States, but it’s been getting bigger the last few years.
